The next IAGG 2009 World Congress in Paris is quickly approaching. We would like to remind you to submit a symposium proposal on your research as well as encourage your colleagues to submit a proposal through our on-line submission system by the deadline 30 June 2008 at: http://www.gerontologyparis2009.com/nv/abstract_submission/index.php
Proposed speakers for submitted symposia may come from different countries, from the same country or same organisation. All submitted symposia will be considered by the Congress Scientific Committee, and a selection will be made based on their scientific interest, expected scientific breakthrough or achievements of the speakers in the proposed field. We have already received 140 symposia proposals to date and we look forward to receiving your contribution very soon.

The Prestigious Busse Research Awards to be presented at the 19th IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics
Call for Nominations - 2009 Busse Research Awards
Promoting international research in gerontology, two Busse Research Awards will be given at the XIX World Congress of Gerontology in Paris France, July 5-9, 2009. Two gerontologists (junior or mid-career) will be selected. One award will recognize a scientist from the social/behavioral sciences; the other from the biomedical sciences. Awards are $5,000 each, with up to $3,000 travel/living expenses. Awardees must present a lecture based on their research at the conference. Deadline for receipt of applications: September 4, 2008.

The V IAGG COMLAT Regional Congress and VIII Columbian Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics - A great success
The V IAGG COMLAT Regional Congress and VIII Columbian Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics took place in April 16 - 19, 2008 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. This event was a great success, hosting participants and speakers from around the world. The 19th IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics participated in the exhibition and members from the Local Organising Committee of IAGG 2009 Congress were invited speakers at the congress. This top event of gerontology and geriatrics in the COMLAT region welcomed more than 700 participants, 87 speakers and 18 sponsoring companies. The highlights of the scientific programme included 122 accepted abstracts, 8 planned symposia, 5 plenary sessions, 9 oral communication sessions, 3 workshops and 6 sponsored symposia. Industry-sponsored Satellite Symposia summary proposals due 30 June 2008
If you are representing a company who is interested in organising a satellite symposium session at the 19th IAGG World Congress, please send us your preliminary Summary Proposal by 30 June 2008. The required preliminary information should include:
- A provisional title of your satellite symposium session
- The proposed speakers
- A brief summary of the content of your session
The final information and full abstract will be due at a later date. Sponsors will soon receive further information about the submission procedure from the organizers.
